The American Pilot

by David Greig

January 22 - February 14, 2009

A U.S. military jet has crashed in a mountainous country torn by civil war. The pilot is discovered by villagers and restrained by rebel forces who see him as both a threat and an opportunity. Their love, fascination, fear, greed and resentment for the pilot all become factors as they struggle to determine what is to be done with him. A beautifully complex and poignant portrayal of how the third world views the U.S. and how the U.S. views the third world.

"Personally, I had nothing against the American pilot. In another world, we could have been friends. But he and I were not in another world."
